Keymath

Okay so I finished administering the 2 Keymath and I have just a couple questions. The book explains how to find the basal but what if they miss the first question? What I did is I went back 3 questions to make sure and when they got them correct I continued on with the assessment. Was this correct? Also the tables to translate the scores are the ones in the back of the book right? And we are still scoring based on age right? I'm confused =) lol

  1. All of my manuals are out right now so I will answer as best that I can! The basal on the KeyMath is 3. You mean if they miss #1 at the beginning of the subtest? In that case you would just have to test from that point and have no established basal. You should indicate that on your protocol (in the margin next to #1 that they missed). If they missed the first item at their designated starting point, then yes you would continue administering items backwards until they reach three correct responses in a row. Read the inside of the protocol (pg 2) for more information on how to proceed with testing and using the basals! Yes, use the scores in the manuals. Grading is based on AGE.
