IEPs
This is only my second year to teach special education students. I have been to ARD meetings as a regular education teacher before, but of course was not required to complete the IEPs. I had never had to do IEPs and had never had training on how to do them until last year. The other resource teacher showed me one time how to do the IEPs on CLASS, the program we use, and then I was on my on. This year I have been to two workshops on how the state wants the NEW IEPs written. My school district is in Region 14, and from the information I have been told Region 14 schools are way behind on learning how to do the new IEPs. From what I understand all the other schools in Texas are already doing the new IEPs. Is everyone else doing the new IEPs and are you having a difficult time learning the correct way to do them? See you Saturday. Glenna

Hi Glenna, when I do my IEP's I still use the Class program and I have not been informed of any new way to do it. Maybe I am already using the new way, I am not sure. This is only my second year doing IEP's. The Class program I use is pretty easy to use. What kind of new things did they talk about at the workshops you went to?
ReplyDeleteAmy--the new IEPs are the standard-based in which you have to give the student a test and determine their strengths and weaknesses. Also the student will have a PLAFF. We have been doing the tradition IEPs, just from the CLASS book that I was given.
